Los Angeles, CA – If you think you are safe trying on clothes in the dressing room, think again. A 38-year-old transgender woman, Tati Sleek, was arrested on Tuesday when she was caught telling her 4 year-old nephew to take photos of the women who were trying on clothes in a Los Angeles Walmart dressing room. Sleek who was babysitting her nephew, took advantage of the new transgender laws that are allowing men, who have transitioned over to be a woman, to enter women’s restrooms and changing facilities.
All four victims had similar stories – the young boy crawled under the dressing room dividing walls with Sleeks cell phone and began taking photos and videos of the women as they were undressing. “I was trying on a bathing suit, so I was down to pretty much nothing when I saw the little boy peak his head under the stall,” said Sandra Crawford, a Walmart customer. “I grabbed my shirt and covered up and yelled to the little boy to go. That’s when he pulled out the cell phone and started laughing and taking pictures. I started yelling to the lady to grab her kid, and then he disappeared.”
That’s when Crawford said she heard another lady yelling, then another. “I threw on my clothes and stepped out of the stall. That’s when I saw the lady tell him he was a ‘good boy’ and place him into the stroller,” recalled Crawford. “I yelled for her to stop, but she kept on going. That’s when I asked the Walmart worker to hurry up and call security. I wanted those photos erased!”
Sleek was stopped before she could exit the store and was asked to turn over her cell phone. She refused, so security phoned for the police. After getting several eyewitness statements, Sleek was arrested and charged with sexual deviancy, invasion of privacy and child pornography. After reviewing the cell phone footage, Sleek’s phone revealed she had been doing this in dressing rooms all across the city. In addition to that, police say there were also inappropriate photos of her 4 year-old nephew on the phone as well. The little boy was physically unharmed and returned to his family.
This incident is only sparking more backlash and debate about the new transgender laws.
