Many Los Angeles residents have reported feeling “dizzy, lightheaded, and somewhat high” and state representatives have found the source of the problem. Water from the Castaic Lake reservoir has tested positive for high levels of THC which investigators say is responsible for the symptoms being reported by Southern California residents. The tests also came back positive for high levels of “bong water residue” which prompted investigators to look further into the cause of the contamination.
“With the increase of medical marijuana users, we have seen an increase in water contaminated with THC and other related residue,” said Stanley Marx of the Castaic Lake Water Agency. “We have found during our investigation that users are dumping bong water into the lake which is the main source of contamination. The secondary cause we found is from medical marijuana users disposing of their bong water through their toilets and sinks.”
The agency is recommending that medical marijuana users dispose of their bong water properly. “Plants love bong water. It helps them grow a beautiful bright green. We would ask that medical marijuana users please use their bong water to water their household plants or trees outside. It’s not fair that our residents are feeling the effects of marijuana, when they do not partake in the drug.”
Marx says by doing this, California residents should see a decrease in THC levels in their water by the beginning of next year.
